Although I joined Trustforce (in May of 2024) with the best intentions and high expectations, it became clear over the course of the year that the position was not the right fit for me. The nature of the projects and roles in outsourcing did not align with my professional interests and long-term goals. While I greatly appreciated the welcoming and supportive team environment, we mutually agreed that it was in the best interest of both parties to end the collaboration.

Next Steps

The time has come to pursue other opportunities. Reactivating the “Open to Work” status on LinkedIn quickly drew considerable attention. After several interviews with various organizations, I accepted a position at Certificerings Advies Nederland as a Senior Adviseur Informatiebeveiliging. The role entails supporting organizations in achieving ISO certifications and performing Internal Audits to list a few.

First two months at CAN

End of April we agreed for me to start, however starting on the first of May was a bit fast. This provided me some time to unwind and prepare myself in starting at CAN in the second half of May.

The onboarding was pleasant and complete. There was a 4-week planning prepared for me. Something I really like, knowing what and when is expected from me helps a lot in the process of onboarding and getting to know the organization.

Even when presented with new clients where I am expected to perform an Internal Audit and not knowing the CAN way of working just yet, the support of the colleagues is very high. I do not get the impression that I have to (re)invent the wheel, the processes and tooling are there, I just need to learn how to use them in the best interest of the client.

Being able to help multiple clients in increasing the maturity level of the organization with a ISO certification is very rewarding and the type of role I really enjoy and desire. While keeping in mind that achieving a certification is not the target, just the means in improving the level of maturity. It helps organization with implementing the PDCA Lifecycle.

The diversity in organizations and being a consultant advising clients is what I like best.

Next steps

I am looking forward in continuing my career at CAN and helping even more organizations within the topic of Information Security with knowledge and expertise.

As such I have started writing a series of blog post on various topics. The first two are already published:

Besides these blogpost’s I am already in the lead of multiple projects for different clients and I have started on working on a custom database driven application (FileMaker Pro) to manage the blueprints and different ISO standards. And my calender is filling up nicely the rest of the year. All in all a very nice start and very interesting prospect into the future.
